---- — DENVILLE, N.J. — Mrs. Ella M. Murphy, 98, died on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013 in Denville, N.J.

Born and raised in Willsboro, N.Y., Mrs. Murphy graduated from Willsboro High School and Plattsburgh State. Mrs. Murphy was a 4th Grade Teacher for the Willsboro Board of Education for 40 years, retiring in 1976.

She was an accomplished artist in many fields. She painted in both oil and water colors and had shows at Franciscan Oaks in Denville and at the Payne Memorial Free Library in Willsboro, N.Y. She loved making and decorating cakes for her grandchildren and many friends. In addition, she was an avid knitter and seamstress.

Mrs. Murphy was a member of the New York State Teachers' Association, Willsboro High School Alumni Association, the Eastern Star and the Congregational Church of Willsboro / United Church of Christ.

Mrs. Murphy was the wife of the late Raymond G. Murphy. She is survived by her son Gary R. and his wife Mary; grandchildren Mary Lynn Roedel (and her husband David) and Lt. Commander Gary C. Murphy, USCG (and his wife Christina); and great-grandchildren, Reilly, Lindsay, and McKensey Roedel.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, in the First Congregational Church of Verona, 19 Church St., Verona, N.J. Memorial donations to the Willsboro Congregational UCC, PO Box 714, Willsboro, NY 12996 would be appreciated.
