Janice D. Miller


AU SABLE FORKS -- Janice D. Miller, 81, of 193 Golf Course Road, Au Sable Forks, N.Y., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at her son David's home. She was born in the Town of Black Brook on Dec. 30, 1926, the daughter of Homer and Madeline Wright.

Janice was an avid reader, loved bird-watching and enjoyed playing Scrabble. She worked as librarian at the Au Sable Forks Public Library, a sales clerk at the National Army Store and High Falls Gorge and operated her own bakery for a short while.

Janice is survived by her two sons, Randy (Pattie) Miller of Burlington, Vt., and David (Lynne) Miller of Hamlin, N.Y.; a brother, Paul Wright of Murphy, N.C.; nine sisters, Dorothy Lozo of Harrisonburg, Va., Laverna Whisher, Roberta Furnia and Evelyn Walton of Au Sable Forks, Maude Kennedy of Peru, Annie Cross of Plattsburgh, Mary Whitney of Keene Valley, Goldie Lozier of Corinth, N.Y., and Carol Wisher of Sarasota, Fla.; a son-in-law, James Parrow of Au Sable Forks; a brother-in-law, Vernon Miller of Florida; a sister-in-law, Myrtle Pietsch of Indiana; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Royce Miller; and her daughter, Joyce Parrow of Au Sable Forks; brothers Timothy Wright and Robert Wright; and a sister, Patricia Shambo.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 10 a.m. at Holy Name Church in Au Sable Forks, officiated by the Rev. Phillip Allen. Interment will follow immediately after service.
