PLATTSBURGH — Loyola (Lou) M. Silver, 86, of Lake Forest Drive, died on Monday, May 5, 2014, at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility. She had spent the weekend surrounded by her son and family. She was born in Huntingdon, Quebec on March 24, 1928, the daughter of Alphonse and Sadie (Arnold) Leahy.
Lou worked for many years for the Ausable Valley School System in Keeseville, N.Y., as a Teachers Aid. After retiring on Dec. 1, 1989, she moved from Keeseville to the Lake Forest Senior Community in 2006 and enjoyed playing bingo and cards. She was a member of the Prospect Chapter #859 Order of the Eastern Star, Keeseville, VFW Auxiliary, Keeseville and Keeseville American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include one child, Wayne Silver of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard and Marydale Whalen of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Bill and Sis Blow of Chateaugay, N.Y.; and nieces and nephews.
Lou was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Lynus whom she married on Feb. 5, 1950 in Huntington, Quebec; one sister, Florence Godin; one brother, Wesley Leahy and one brother-in-law and sister in-law, Lester and Phyllis Silver.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
