WEST CHAZY — Charles C. Thompson, 90, of Jersey Swamp Road, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Newburgh, N.Y., on Jan. 6, 1924, the son of Frederick and Alice (Milliken) Thompson.
He married the former Virginia Dixon on Jan. 19, 1947, in Newburgh, N.Y.
Charles worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Operating Engineers of New Jersey. He was a Jehovah Witness and spent countless hours volunteering his time and talents, traveling across the country building Kingdom Halls. Charles was also an avid traveler and he enjoyed visiting various Historical Places.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Thompson of West Chazy; two sons, Charles and Camille Thompson of Patterson, N.Y., and Robert and Donna Thompson of Westport; two daughters, Barbara and Bill Sebesta of Montgomery, N.Y., and Debbe and Paul Benware of Plattsburgh; one sister, Shirley Gilmore of Newburgh, N.Y.; two brothers, Roland Thompson of Warwick, N.Y., and George Thompson of Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Frederick C. Thompson, Richard Thompson and Arthur Thompson and three sisters, Mabel Ward, Harriet Thompson and Anna Bell.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, at the Newburgh East Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 468 Route 32, Wallkill, N.Y.
