---- — PLATTSBURGH — Geneva Derby, 94, of Lake Shore Road, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at her residence.
She was born in Morrisonville, N.Y. on December 12, 1918, the daughter of Edward and Josephine (Rabideau) Royal.
Geneva married Dorrance "Harry" Derby on December 12, 1949 in Plattsburgh. Dorrance passed away on Nov. 13, 2003.
She worked as a machine operator for Pal Blade from 1939 to 1949. Geneva had a great love for flowers, gardening and cooking. She was a member of St. Augustine's Church in Peru.
Survivors include one son, Donald Derby of Plattsburgh and his companion, Val Blaine of Peru; one daughter, Elaine Sherman and her husband, Jim of Plattsburgh; two nieces, Donna LaBombard of Plattsburgh and Janice Layton of Clifton Park; and several other nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Edgar Royal and Lewis Loyal; and two sisters, Dora Lawliss and Della Parrott.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court St., Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday in St. Augustine's Church in Peru. Burial will take place in the spring in Schuyler Falls Cemetery.
