TICONDEROGA — Nilda Reardon, 74, of Ticonderoga, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Jan. 24, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Felix Juan and Maria Antonlia (Fernandaz) Ruiz.
Nilda was a resident of Long Island, N.Y., prior to moving to Ticonderoga in 1978. She was a graduate of Washington Irving High School and Hunter College of Brooklyn. Nilda was a member of the Spanish Rosicrucian Order of New York City.
She was employed as a Secretary for the McCann Erickson Advertising Agency of New York City for many years, and also the Port Charles Hospital of Long Island. Most recently she was employed by Mountain Lakes Services for five years.
She was a talented pianist, having performed "Flight of the Bumble Bee" at Carnegie Hall. Nilda was very proud of her extensive doll collection, and she enjoyed bowling and dancing. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ticonderoga Fire Department. Nilda enjoyed all animals and the peacefulness of an Adirondack snowfall. The greatest love of her life was her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Maria L. Gijanto and her husband, Donald Gijanto Jr. of Chilson; her son, David R. Von Koenigseck of Tallahassee, Fla.; her former husband and long-life friend, Edward Von Koenigseck of Melbourne, Fla.; three grandchildren, Christy Marie Gijanto of Chilson, Riva Rachelle Gijanto-Burris and her husband Jeremy Burris of Ft. Lee, Va., and Corrin Audrey Allen of Crown Point; four great-grandchildren, Gianna Gijanto-Sherman, Cira Sherman, Dominic Sherman, and Jerico Burris; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.
