SILVER BAY - Janet Louise Breitenbach, 86, of Silver Bay, N.Y., passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014, peacefully at home. Janet was born in Tarrytown, N.Y., on March 18, 1928, the daughter of Charles Doc and Lottie Steurer and sister to Doris O'Dell of Madison, Wisconsin. She was a graduate of Washington Irving High School in Tarrytown and Stevens College in Columbia, Missouri.

Janet married John C. Breitenbach Sr. on April 30, 1950 and thereafter worked with John at Breitenbachs Bakery in Tarrytown for 30 years. She retired to Silver Bay, where she was hostess to generations of seasonal guests at JanDor Manor for more than 25 years. Janet loved Lake George, where she enjoyed boating and the outdoors. She was also an avid gardener, flower arranger, seamstress and knitter.

Janet is survived by her husband of 64 years, John Sr.; daughter, Elizabeth Underwood and her husband Robert of Hay Market, Va.; son, John C. Breitenbach Jr. and his wife Deborah of Silver Bay, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Emily, Katie, Nicole, Robert and John; and two great-grandchildren, Catherine and Tracey John.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ticonderoga, N.Y. The Rev. Kevin D. McEwan, Pastor, will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox and Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.
