LYON MOUNTAIN — Harold “Fuzzy” D. Charland, 78, of Standish Road, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Lyon Mountain, NY on February 6, 1936, the son of Nelson and Rose (Prespare) Charland.
Fuzzy worked for many years at the Lake Placid Club and the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, NY and also at the Lyon Mountain Landfill Station.
Fuzzy had many hobbies throughout his life, including, hunting, playing pull tabs and bingo, but what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family.
Survivors include one sister, Ethel Lamere of Millerton, NY; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece and nephew, Tina and Norman Charland, who cared for Fuzzy during his final days.
He was predeceased by a special brother-in-law and friend, “Tanny” Lamere; 8 brothers, Richard, Floyd, Leon, Arnold, Ronald, Leo, Willard, and Henry Charland; and 5 sisters, Valeda Benjamin, Shirley Demarais, Rose Kavanaugh, Evelyn Collins, and Loretta Smith.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the St. Bernard’s Parish Center in Lyon Mountain. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard’s Church in Lyon Mountain.
Burial will take place in the spring in the parish cemetery.
