GEORGETOWN, TEXAS — Joan McGinness Hanley, 77, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2014, in Georgetown, Texas.
Joan was born on September 2, 1936, in Moriah, NY, the daughter of Everett and Elizabeth Hanley. Joan graduated from Moriah High School in 1954. She was married to George S. McGinness from 1955 to 1980. They had four children together. She lived in Dequincy and Deridder, Louisiana from 1980-2012 where she was married to James Moses from 1997-2013. In late 2012 she moved to Georgetown, Texas to be near family for her remaining life.
Joan was a wonderful, loving mother, friend and active member in her church community. She was an avid gardener, artist, and cook. Joan also loved to read and sew and demonstrated a special, loving bond with her many animal friends. Her unending belief in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, which she poured into of her family, friends and everyone she met, was the foundation of her life.
She is survived by: three daughters; Joy Miller and her husband David of Voorheesville, NY, Kathie Coolidge and her husband Craig of Brasher Falls, NY, and Jane Best and her husband Leslie of Georgetown, TX; one son. Evan McGinness of Georgetown, TX.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Interment will take place at the Catholic Community of Moriah Cemetery in Moriah, NY. A graveside memorial service will be held at a future date to be announced.
