CROWN POINT — Joanie Elizabeth Chandler, our beloved, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, of Crown Point, entered Heaven on April 6, 2014.
Born in Ticonderoga, New York on September 18, 1939, she was one of the second set of twins born to George V. and Margaret (Smith) Fuller. She was raised in a joyful, happy family on Lord Howe Street with her siblings, Gracie, twin sister Jean, William, John, Guy, and Barbara. She married William Chandler in 1958. She was welcomed into her husband's family, who she loved very much, which includes her father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Hazel Chandler, and her two sisters-in-law, Maude and Mary. William and Joanie began their family in Clifton Park. Walter was born in 1959 and David in 1960. They then moved to Crown Point in the early 60's and completed their family with Amy in 1964. Joanie became a grandmother in 1991 with the birth of her grandson, Andrew. This was one of the happiest times of her life.
Joanie loved her family and being a homemaker. She especially loved spending time with her sisters. She also had a deep love for all of her nieces and nephews and had many special adventures with Donna, Karen, Debbie, Michelle and Melissa.
She valued education as was evident in her receiving her GED and completing college courses after her children were in school. She was employed as a Teacher's Aide in Crown Point School for many years. She valued each and every child she taught, and treated each child equally. She had a deep working respect for two educators, Mrs. Jean Gabler and Mrs. Pat Hall.
Joanie had a great love for books, and volunteered at the Hammond Library in Crown Point for many years.
Joanie has joined her parents; her brothers, Guy and John; her son, David; her mother-in-law and father-in-law; and her sisters-in-law, Maude and Mary, in Heaven.
