LAKE LUZERNE - William "'Bill" Larmon, 70, of Rose Ave., died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at his home. Born on August 14, 1943 in Brooklyn, he was the son of William K. and Mary (Stevenson) Larmon. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964.
He was a graduate of SUNY New Paltz where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. Bill retired from the New York State Department of Corrections in 1990. However, he will be most fondly remembered as a folk singer, poet, and philosopher. Bill published a book of prose, poems, and quips entitled "About Time" and released an album of Folk music entitled "All These Years". Bill was a lover of music, especially folk and bluegrass.
He also enjoyed studying nature, including human nature, and spending time with his many canine companions throughout the years. Bill was also a member of the NRA, and the Vietnam Veterans of America.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Dorothy (Barry) Larmon; two daughters, Jennifer Hicks and her husband Patrick of Morrisonville and Amy Larmon of Keeseville; one granddaughter, Arianna Hicks; one sister, Mary Reilly and her husband Walter of Clifton Park.
In accordance with Bill's wishes, there are no calling hours or funeral services scheduled. Contribution in his memory may be directed to Hudson Sacandaga V.F.W. Post 5836, Hadley, or to the William Varney American Legion Post 862, Lake Luzerne, where Bill was a member.
