PLATTSBURGH — Catherine M. "Kitty" Cadieux, 84, formerly of Miller Street, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home.
She was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on July 24, 1929, the daughter of Edward and Ida Upton.
Kitty owned and operated the B & K Market on Miller Street for many years with her husband Robert. He passed away on November 15, 1990.
Kitty had also provided childcare and foster care, from her home, to many children for over 40 years. She enjoyed cooking and gardening in her spare time, but most of all she loved the time she spent with her family.
Survivors include one daughter, Denise Cadieux of Plattsburgh; one brother, Vernon Chellis of Plattsburgh; one sister-in-law, Geraldine Chellis of Plattsburgh; two granddaughters, Almeda Cadieux and Shaunie Cadieux; many half-brothers, half-sisters, nieces and nephews.
Kitty was predeceased by her husband; one daughter, Molly Cadieux; one sister, Ida Nye; and one sister-in-law, Arlene Chellis.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 6, at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 7, at St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, at in St. Peter's Cemetery.
