Edna M. Dodge

PERU — Edna M. Dodge, 88, of the Union Road, Peru, died peacefully, Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Peasleeville, Jan. 1, 1925, the daughter of Arthur and Lila (Frenyea) Bashaw. Edna graduated from Peru Central School in 1944.

She worked as a teaching assistant at Peru Central School from 1966 until retiring in 1987. She loved her children and grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes were gardening, reading, and collecting cookbooks. Edna was the worlds greatest chef, and delighted in baking and creating beautiful desserts including her famous Christmas cherries jubilee. We watched in awe as she triumphantly lit the dessert. These moments we will never forget.

Edna was a member of the Peru Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John and Patsy Dodge of Morrisonville; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Dawn and William Morse of Peru, and Kathy and Scott Bulriss of Baldwinsville; grandchildren, Michelle Corrigan, Megan Dodge, Angela Morse, William Morse, Jennifer Morse, Chris Marie Morse, and Evan Bulriss; great-grandchildren, Amara and Zoee Corrigan, Katelyn Morse, Jamarakwai Morse, and Noalani Morse; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Alden Dodge; sisters, Agnes Chamberlain, Betty Ashline, and Yvonne Mello; and brothers, Edward Bashaw, Robert Bashaw, and Joseph Bashaw.

At Edna's request there will be no public calling hours or services. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Peru Rescue Squad, Alzheimers & Dementia Research, or Diabetes Research.

The family of Edna Dodge would like to thank Carla Downs for her love, and caring support.
