FULTON, N.Y. — Dr. Joseph Ivanenok, 70, of Fulton, N.Y., died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013.
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and educator, Joe was born in Riga, Latvia in 1942. He was a graduate of Plattsburgh State and served as a high school science teacher and basketball coach in Tully for several years before entering school administration and receiving his doctorate of education from Syracuse University. Joe was a keen environmentalist and started one of the earliest recycling centers in central New York.
Survived by his wife Linda (nee Jabaut) of Fulton; his daughter, Lisa (Jonathan) Reynolds of Sheffield, Mass.; and his son and grandson Joe (Kim) and Chris of Peoria, Ariz.
A gathering to celebrate Joe's life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on his birthday, Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Rabideau Funeral Home, 5614 Route 11, Ellenburg Depot, N.Y.
