CHATEAUGAY — Louie J. Hess, 79, Ryan Rd., Chateaugay, passed away Thursday, Sept. 12, at his home.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Elmwood Cemetery, Adams. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville.
Louie was born June 10, 1934 in Ava, N.Y., a son to Anthony and Millie May Hess. He joined the U.S. Navy Feb. 5, 1952, serving in the Korean War combat zone off the shore of Korea.
Following his honorable discharge June 2, 1955, Louie returned stateside where he was a union carpenter for 45 years. He moved to Chateauguay in 1987.
He married Marie Emily Fox, Nov. 4, 1956 at the United Methodist Church in Fulton. Mrs. Hess passed away March 7, 1978.
Louie was a lifetime member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and a lifetime member of the Dexter American Legion Post #0583. His hobby was country music, playing guitar and was a lead singer for several area bands.
Louie is survived by his longtime companion, Mary Myhill; his daughter, Susan (Mitch) Peebles, Adams; granddaughters Cory (Kiel) Gregory of Lewiston, Pa., and Beverly (Joseph) Marra, Adams Center; a great-grandson, Tristan Gregory; a sister, Barbara (Jim) Paige, Dexter; two brothers, Joseph (Cathy) Hess, Lorraine and George, Rodman. Many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by four brothers, Richard, David, Robert and Leo and a son-in-law Leo H. McIntosh, Jr.
