Paul Michael (PJ) Joubert

TICONDEROGA — Paul Michael (PJ) Joubert, 54, of Ticonderoga, N.Y. passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 after 'winning the war' with brain cancer.

Born to William Paul Joubert and Thelma (Goodman) Joubert in Ticonderoga, N.Y., on Jan. 2, 1959, PJ was raised in Ticonderoga and graduated from Ticonderoga High School. He graduated magna cum laude from Norwich University in Northfield, Vt. with both his Bachelors in Science and Masters in Education. PJ was an exceptional athlete throughout his entire life. He was on the football, track, wrestling, and bowling teams in high school and was inducted into the Ticonderoga Athletic Hall of Fame. While at Norwich University he was on the football and track teams and was inducted into the Norwich University Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the 1979 Championship Football Team. He received his 2nd Lieutenant Commission in the U.S. Army in 1981 and was stationed at Ft. Belvoir, Va. and Ft. Carson, Colo. in the Corps of Engineers. After leaving the army PJ taught physical education, driver's education, biology and earth science for over 20 years in Colo., N.Y., N.C. and Vt.; the longest time spent teaching at the Ticonderoga High School; his alma mater. His love for sports and inspiring students to reach their highest potential was made evident in his coaching. He coached football, track, and wrestling, and he was able to not only connect with his students and athletes on the field, but more importantly taught life lessons off the field.

PJ had an incredible lust for life and making a difference in those lives around him. He was never without a positive encouragement for others.

He was an especially spirit-filled man serving for many years as an eucharistic minister at St. Mary's Church. He enjoyed many faith-filled activities among them, he loved his monthly Men's Prayer Breakfast group at Silver Bay and the friendships he formed there. PJ also had a love for Lake George and the surrounding Adirondacks. This inspired him to be a lifeguard at Black Point Beach for many years and a pilot on the Lake George Steamboat Mohican for 10 years enjoying many summers on the Lake with his girls. His love for Lake George and our Lord Jesus Christ will live on through his family for generations to come.
