WILLIAMS, CALIF. — Dorothy Mae Owens passed away in her home in Williams, Calif., on Nov. 12, 2013. She was born in Ellenburg, N.Y., to George and Della Yelle.
She graduated from Ellenburg Central School and lived most of her life in Plattsburgh, where she enjoyed family and many lifelong friends. Dorothy retired from Schonbek Worldwide Lighting in Plattsburgh.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Steven Owens and wife Kim of Shreveport, La., Scotty Owens and wife Patti of Williams, Calif., and Brian Owens and wife Cheri of Plattsburgh; brothers, Gerald Sherman and wife Edna of West Chazy, and Ralph Sherman of Morrisonville; sisters, Irene Meglier and husband Larry of Mt. Morris, and Margret Schmidle of Mt. Morris; grandchildren, Amie, Tim, Heather, Dillon; and one great-grandchild on the way, Bennett. Many nieces and nephews also survive her. Dorothy's brother, Ronald Sherman of Massachusetts, preceded her in death.
Services for Dorothy will be held in the spring and she will be laid to rest between her parents at St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg, NY. Family will be notifying friends and family prior to the spring services.
