---- — PLATTSBURGH — Robert A. Robare, 85, of Plattsburgh and formerly of Route 3 Cadyville, N.Y., died on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Keeseville, N,Y, on Feb. 10, 1928 the son of William and Lena (Deno) Robare.

Bob joined the Coast Guard serving his country during World War II in Greenland and Alaska. After returning home he graduated high school and worked various jobs until becoming a Corrections Officer for New York State.

Bob retired in 1990 after 36 years of service. He married Barbara Ryan on July 14, 1952, at St. James Church in Cadyville. Bob was a former member of the Cadyville Fire Department, St. James Church Council and Boy Scout Leader.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife Barbara in 2006; his siblings; William Jr., Roland, Roger, Kathryn, Elmer, Leona, Jack, Thomas and Ruth.

Bob is survived by a son, Robert T. Robare and his wife Donna of Morrisonville; a grandson Patrick Robare of Morrisonville; two siblings, Madeline Dubay of Newcomb and Richard Robare and wife Dorothy of Texas; several nieces and nephews also survive him.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at the Brown Funeral Home, 3 Park Row, Cadyville. Members of the Knights of Columbus Council 6067 are asked to gather at the funeral home at 7 p.m. for a Ritualistic Service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at St. James Church in Cadyville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
