PLATTSBURGH — James E. Franck, 77, of Land O' Lake, Fla. and Plattsburgh, died peacefully at his home in Land O' Lake, Fla. on Friday, June 13, 2014.
Jim was born on Oct. 6, 1936, the son of the late Francis and Charlotte Franck of Florence, Ala.
Jim was stationed at Plattsburgh AFB for several years and during that time he met his wife Jeannette, daughter of the late Henry and Lea Pellerin of Plattsburgh.
Jim was sergeant of the 380th Bomb Wing Supply Squadron and was honorably discharged in August of 1960. After discharge from the Air Force, Jim was employed by P.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. Shortly thereafter, Jim started his own business known as Franck's Coffee Service which he operated from 1963 to 1975. After ending his business, he was employed in sales for WIRY working with Ann Tarasavage, Bob Pooler and Gordie Little.
In 1981, Jim and Jeannette returned to Fla. to be near his family and was employed as manager by the Paul Britton Rental Company in sales. He retired due to ill health.
Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jeannette; and their sons, Steven and Michael (wife Nancy) and their son Eric, all of Land O' Lake, Fla. His grandson was his greatest joy. He is also survived by a brother, John of Texas; and sisters, Barbara, Carolyn, Joyce, Rachael, and Rebecca, all of Fla. Jim and Jeannette maintained a summer residence at Twin Ells campsite for the past ten years.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 am on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Our Lady of Rosary Church in Land O' Lake, Fla. Burial will be in the Veterans National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
