MALONE — Amy M. Monette, 53, of 11 Stevens St., Malone, N.Y. died Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.
Born on Aug. 6, 1960, in Keeseville, N.Y., she was the daughter of Daniel and Margaret (Perkett) Gionet.
Amy attended MAI and St. John's High School. After receiving her high school degree, she attended both Cobleskill and Clinton Community College and received an associate's degree in early childhood education. She was a founding member of the Independent Living Center in Plattsburgh and also worked at the Massena Independent Living Center. During her time in Cobleskill, she was instrumental in beginning a park for children. For many years, she sold Avon. Amy loved going to Yankee games, rock and roll music and traveling, especially to various shrines including those in Washington D.C. and Montreal, Quebec. She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church, Malone and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a lifetime member of the Keeseville Elks.
Amy is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Melissa Gionet of Florida, Mary and Guy Williams of Florida; three aunts, Jean and Donald Donah of Tupper Lake, Eileen Perkett of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., Helen of Oregon; her caregiver, George Monette of Malone. She was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Christopher Gionet.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, at St. Mary-Murphy-Wilcox Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 31, at Notre Dame Church. Donations in her memory may be made to Right to Life.
