ELLENBURG DEPOT — Joann Sharon Stone, 71, formerly of the Drown Road, Ellenburg Depot, died Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh. She was born March 11, 1943, in Ellenburg Depot, the daughter of the late Earl Sr. and Catherine (Cook) Stone. Joann grew up on the family farm on the Drown Road in Ellenburg Depot. She attended school at Fernwood.
Jo was a special lady who was dearly loved by her family and many friends. Doing for others gave her great joy. She especially enjoyed doing for her beloved family. Jo loved berry picking, gardening, cooking and helping to raise the family children.
Survivors include her sisters, Marge Rushford and husband Stan, Judy Duffina, Kathie Leahy and husband Mike, Nancy Quinn and husband Andy, and Donna Brassard; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her stepmom, Clara "Mabel" (LaValley) Stone; brother, Earl Jr.; brother-in-law, Mike Brassard; and a niece, Jill Duffina.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 31, at Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. Following cremation, a memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks with Padre Adrian Gallagher, OFM Conv., Parish Pastor, celebrating. Burial will be at St. Ann's Cemetery.
