CHAMPLAIN — Betty Mae Babbie, 80, of Champlain passed away Friday, March 21, 2014, at the CVPH Medical Center.
She was born April 25, 1933 in Chazy, the daughter of Edward and Della (Duprey) Dupee. She was very religious and devoted to the Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing and making blankets as well as cooking and baking cakes.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Joseph L. Babbie; and one brother, John Edward Dupee.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas Babbie of Champlain, John Babbie of Champlain, Peter Babbie and his wife, Susan of Champlain; two daughters, Rebecca Berry and her husband Michael of Beekmantown, Layla Betty Martin of West Chazy; two brothers, James Dupee of Champlain, Russell Dupee of Champlain; four sisters, Jane Hemmingway of Champlain, Ruth Behan and her husband Ernie of Champlain, Viola Castine of Champlain, Verda LaValley Fagen and her husband Michael of Mooers Forks; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a very close friend, Bertha Begore, known as Grandma.
Betty's family wishes to extend a very special thank you to everyone who took care of her at CVPH, North Country Medical in Champlain, Cornerstone and Pharmacy in Rouses Point.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 29, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Champlain with the Rev. Clyde Lewis, Pastor, officiating.
