PLATTSBURGH — Mimeko Okada, 89, of Flynn Ave., passed away Sunday March 23, 2014, at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh. She was born in Los Angeles, Cali. on April 21, 1924 to the late Unosuke and Shigeyo (Amemiya) Okada.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Masako (Okada) Amioka, and Hiroyo (Okada) Kiyabu.
Mimeko was a very kind and generous person. She loved the cats that touched her life in such a positive way: Cocoa, Soho, Reiko, Perkins, Vito, Talon, Marty, Micky D, Harriet and J.J.; as well as the dogs in her life, Popo, Lucky, and Odessa.
She is survived by her nephews, James Amioka, Allan Amioka, Eric Amioka, Jim Kiyabu; Nieces, Mariko Amioka, Grace Kiyabu and Naomi Kiyabu. She is predeceased by her parents; and two sisters, Masako Amioka and Hiroyo Kiyabu.
Calling hours will be from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. March 27, at the Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court Street, Plattsburgh. A funeral Service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
