MORIAH — Florence L. James, 93, died March, 22, 2014, after a long illness, at Evergreen Valley Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, N.Y. She was born in Moriah, N.Y. August 15, 1920 the daughter of Nelson and Florence (Broughton) Sharrow.
She was the widow of Harold James who died in 1987. Florence was a cook at the Willsboro Central School and at Camp Pok-O-Mac Cready, retiring in 1994. In her younger years she was a 4H leader, a member of the Whallonsburgh Methodist Church, the Whallonsburgh Grange and the Wadhams Grange.
She is survived by four sons and their wives, Emerson and Doreen James of Peru, N.Y., Delbert and Eleanor James of Milton, Vt., Lloyd and Debbie James of Willsboro, N.Y. and Stanley and Candy James of Whallonsburgh, N.Y.; and one daughter and her husband, Peggy and Albert Sheffer of Willsboro, N.Y. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Florence was predeceased by brothers, Charles, Lloyd, Leon, and Harry Sharrow; and one sister, Ruth DaBoin; one grandson, Steve James in Jan. 2014.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 pm Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Huestis Funeral Home, 25 Maple St., Willsboro, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 4 p.m. at the Funeral Home. A reception will follow at the United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall. Burial will be in the New Bert Cemetery at a date and time to be announced later.
