MOOERS FORKS — John L. Arlak Jr., 71, died Friday, March 14, 2014, at his home.
He was born Aug. 31, 1942, in the Bronx, N.Y., son of John L. and Catherine (Ortlieb) Arlak.
He was a retired New York City sanitation worker. He received numerous awards for his tremendous work ethic. He was well known in the Plattsburgh and Malone area and a friend to all who knew him. He frequented several senior citizens organizations and was a friend to the Special Olympics.
John was predeceased by his parents, John Arlak Sr. and Catherine Arlak, formerly of Mooers Forks.
John is survived by his younger brother, William Arlak and his companion, Barbara Aubin of Mooers Forks; his younger sister, Katherine Voelsing and her husband, Robert Sr. of Mooers Forks; one nephew, Robert L. Voelsing Jr. and his wife, Meghan of Mooers Forks; and one niece, Katherine Geraghty and her husband, Phillip of Burlington, Vt.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, at the Ross Funeral Home in Mooers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Special Olympics.
