PERU — Doris M. Bashaw, 84, of Sanborn Lane, Peru, passed away peacefully, Friday, March 14, 2014, at the home of her nephew in Glens Falls. She was born in Plattsburgh, Nov. 19, 1929, the daughter of Arthur and Lila (Freniere) Bashaw. Doris grew up in Peru and graduated from Peru High School. She was well known locally for her 43 years of service as the bookkeeper at the Grand Union in Peru. Doris enjoyed reading, bird watching, and most recently spending time with her new friends at Lena's Place.
Survivors include her three nephews and nieces-in-law, Matthew and Rene Mello and their children of Glens Falls, Martin and Peg Mello and their children of Peru, and Craig and Brenda Bashaw and their children of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and other nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Joseph, Robert, and Edward Bashaw; and sisters, Agnes Chamberlain, Betty Ashline, Yvonne Mello, and Edna Dodge.
At Doris's request there will be no public calling hours or services. Burial will be in the spring in St. Augustine's Cemetery in Peru, at the convenience of the family.
