VICTOR, N.Y. — Leonard Roth III, age 79, formerly of Rouses Point and Perico Island, Fla., passed away March 18, 2014. He was a member of the Catholic Church of the Transfiguration in Pittsford, N.Y.
Leonard was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y. in 1934 to Leonard Roth Jr. and Alice Baclawski.
He is predeceased by his parents; and his sister, Valarie Roth.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Harriet Monette Roth, formerly of Mooers, N.Y.; his son, Dr. Kyle Roth, D.D.S. and his wife Leslie of Raleigh, N.C. and Myrtle Beach, S.C.; his daughter, Karen LaMar and her husband Dr. James LaMar, D.D.S.; and grandchildren, James, Erin, and Brooke LaMar, and Morgan Roth.
Leonard was a graduate of the University of Vermont with a degree in chemistry. He then obtained an International Business Administration degree at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He was a member of the U.S. Reserve Officers Training Command and served in the Vermont Air National Guard. He worked at Ayerst Pharmaceuticals in Rouses Point, N.Y. as a research chemist in the product development laboratory. He served 35 years in law enforcement with the U.S. Treasury Department working as an import specialist in chemicals and pharmaceuticals coming across the U.S. borders from foreign countries.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, coached youth basketball and hockey, and promoted the building of the Rouses Point Civic Center. He enjoyed watching the New York Giants and the New York Yankees and playing senior golf in Victor. When the cold winter months came, he enjoyed his time in Florida where he wintered for the past eleven years. Len enjoyed his time with family and will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
There will be no prior calling hours. A Funeral Mass celebrating Len's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 22 at the Catholic Church of the Transfiguration, 50 West Bloomfield Rd., Pittsford, NY 14534. Entombment at White Haven Memorial Park.
