PLATTSBURGH, NY — Lucille A. Haley, 86, formerly of Smith St. Dannemora, more recently of the Samuel F. Vilas Home, died Monday March 17, 2014, at CVPH Medical Center. She was born July 25, 1927, in Dannemora the daughter of Philip and Lucy (Rushford) Kennedy.
Lucille graduated from Dannemora High School on June 26, 1945, and attended Plattsburgh Business Institute receiving a diploma on June 21, 1945. She worked at Dannemora State Hospital for several years as a secretary for the Director, Dr. Shaw.
Lucille married Russell A. Haley Sr. on Feb. 5, 1948, at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora with the Rev. Brady presiding.
Lucille worked at the Thomas Rible Funeral Home, Dannemora Free Library, St. Joseph's School and various childcare jobs. She was an avid baker her specialties were hot-cross buns, dinner rolls, homemade pies, cakes, cookies, French bread and applesauce.
Survivors include four sons, James Haley of Saranac, Timothy and Suzanne Haley of Cadyville, Thomas and Ginny Haley of Dannemora, Phil and Sandy Haley of Cadyville; a daughter-in-law Marjorie Haley of Dannemora; two sisters Arlene "Denie" Patnode of Dannemora, Phyllis "Pudy" and Leo "Skip" Maggy of Dannemora; grandchildren Trish and Billy Duffany, Nate and Becky Haley, Laura Haley and Tom Houle, Tom and Jen Haley, Kayla and Josh Barber, Kelly Haley, Lexi Haley and Faith Haley; 4 great-grandchildren Helena, Hayden, Hallie and Alexandra; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband; a son, Russell A. Haley Jr.; two brothers, Jerry Kennedy, and Philip Kennedy; a brother-in-law, Francis "Sonny" Patnode.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 21, at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 12 noon at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Burial will be at a later date in the parish cemetery.
