DANNEMORA — Norma G. Samons, 75, formerly of Manley Street, Dannemora, died Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh.
She was born in Spokane, Wash., Jan. 3, 1939, the daugter of Dale A. and Alice (Delaney) Samons.
Norma was a childcare provider for several local families for many years. She also worked for a short time at Plattsburgh State University. A devout Catholic, Norma was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora, and member of the Catholic Daughters.
Norma enjoyed bingo, helping others, and will be remembered for her inquisitive nature.
Survivors include her sister, Dorothy "Dot" Todd and her companion Ismael Colon of Plattsburgh; one niece, Laura Todd Springer and her husband John of Norman, Okla; great-nieces and great-nephews, Justin, Elliot, and Nora Springer, and Clare Ibach and her husband Stephen; and one great-great-nephew, Benjamin Springer.
She was predeceased by her parents; and two nephews, Michael and Christopher Todd.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Hamilton Funeral Home, Peru. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John M. Demo, officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the new St. Joseph's Cemetery, Picketts Corners Road, Dannemora.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Dannemora Rescue Squad or the Morrisonville Rescue Squad.
