PERU — Eva L. Furnia, 97, of Apple Valley Drive, Peru, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Saranac, Feb. 2, 1917, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Defayette) Archambault. Eva married Raymond Furnia July 8, 1935 in Redford. He predeceased her in 1963.
She was a caring and devoted homemaker, and a loving, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, and the Golden Apple Club. Eva enjoyed sewing, quilting, and baking, but her true love was spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Donald Frenia of Portsmouth, Va.; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Peg Furnia of Surprise, Ariz., Curtis and Linda Furnia of Plattsburgh, Joseph and Kathy Furnia of Canton, Bruce Furnia and companion Darlene Pickman of Peru, and Steven and Lori Furnia of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; brother, Raymond Archambault of Saranac; two sisters, Sally McCasland of Plattsburgh, and Albina St. Germaine of Plattsburgh; 17 granchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brother, Andrew Archambault; sisters, Florence Fisher, Bernadette Couture, and Lena LeVinus; and grandson, Mark Frenia.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 10, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, at St. Augustine's Church in Peru with Rev. Alan D. Shnob, parish pastor, celebrating. Burial will be in the spring in St. Matthew's Cemetery in Black Brook.
