NEW RUSSIA — Penny L. Martin, 64, of Lakota Way, New Russia, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at her home, with her loving husband by her side.
She was born in Ticonderoga, July 8, 1949, the daughter of Walter and Bernice Marcotte of Willsboro.
Penny graduated from Willsboro High School and went on to business school in Albany, N.Y. She met her husband Edward in the spring of 1970, and they wed that same fall on Sept. 5.
Penny worked for many years at the Essex County Department of Social Services. Penny's passion was her faith, where she devoted herself to the Catholic Daughter's, leading her church choir, and for her ministries in the church.
Most important to her was her husband, her three children and her ten grandchildren. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and was extremely generous with her time and attention.
Penny is survived by her husband Edward Martin; her mother Bernice Marcotte; and her three children, Casey Martin, Edward Martin II and Kristine Gay. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Tyler Blaise, Rheanon Martin, Ciara Martin, Zachary Martin, Alyson Deleury, Arianna Martin, Palmer Martin, Ted Gay, Jack Gay and Jacob Gay.
Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 7, at W.M. Marvin's Funeral Home, 7521 Court St., Elizabethtown, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, from St. Alexander's Church, 1 Church St., Morrisonville, N.Y. Burial will be at a later date in the Essex County Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Penny's memory may be made to the Catholic Daughters of America.
