PLATTSBURGH — Theotis B. Dragoon, 82, of Plattsburgh, passed away March 5, 2014, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Dec. 30, 1931, in Sciota, the daughter of the late Albert and Ruth Mooso.
Theo married the love of her life, Carl Dragoon on July 1, 1950. She worked for many years and retired from Metropolitan Life Company. During her retirement, she became a very active member of St. Peter's Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and president of the Rosary Alter Society.
Theo was a devoted wife and mother whose selflessness and unconditional love were emulated in the strong family values she passed to her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. She enjoyed family gatherings, shopping trips with her daughters, and Saratoga horse races with her sister, Nat; and nieces, Cindy and Debbie. She was also a proud grandmother who attended her grandchildren's sporting events whenever she could. She loved to read and knit, but was most passionate about reading her Bible daily.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Carl Dragoon; her five children and their spouses, Cheryl and John Ducatte of Wurtsboro, Sharon and Erling Svendsen of West Chazy, Carl and Bernadette Dragoon of Chateaugay Lake, Shari and Robert Williams, and Dawn and Mark Leopard of Plattsburgh; nine grandchildren, Lori, Jennifer, Nicole, Erik, Eileen, Edward, Coleen, Evan, and Nathaniel; and six great-grandchildren, Ashley, Ava, Aodhan, Liam, Isabella, and Adalyn, with two more due this year. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Natalie and Francis Golden; along with many nieces and nephews.
The family extends a special thank you to Lauren Lemos, for the loving care she provided to our mother during the past eight months, and also for the support and guidance she extended to us. Special recognition needs to be given to Dr. John Griffin and all of the staff at FitzPatrick Cancer Center, for exceptional care given to our mother over the past 14 years. Thank you to Fr. John Yonkovig for the compassionate, spiritual support he gave to our mother and family, and to Hospice for their support.
