CHAZY/ROUSES POINT — Emerson "Laddie" Saxe, 55, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, at CVPH Medical Center.
He was born in Plattsburgh on June 30, 1958, the son of William and Esther (Gardell) Saxe.
Laddie enjoyed sports and motorcycles. He graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in 1977. He worked for a short time for Capco Trading in Chazy as a laborer. Laddie broke his neck in a car accident in Sept. of 1985. He spent three months in CVPH Medical Center and six months in Boston Hospital. He then tried an independent living situation in Schenectady area, but that didn't work for him. Laddie ended up in Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in 1986 where he called home until it closed. He was moved to Holy Oak MA. For a short stay before moving to Horace Nye Nursing Home in Elizabethtown, until he was able to be moved back to Rouses Point. Laddie enjoyed this area and its people that treated him like family. He was the Good Will Ambassador of Rouses Point where he met people with a smile and a handshake. He was a member of the Independent Living Center Board of Directors.
Laddie will be deeply missed by his family and many friends in and outside the area. His family would like to mention and thank all the people of Rouses Point for their kindness. Also Libby Jackson for her great care and love as he fought his battle with cancer. Lastly the staff at CVPH Medical Center for the great care they gave Laddie.
His parents, William and Esther Saxe predeceased him.
Survivors include his two younger brothers, Scott Saxe of Fort Lauderdale and John Saxe of Chazy.
At Laddie's request there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. June 28, 2014 at the Saxe Cemetery in Chazy Landing, with a celebration of his life to follow at the family home in Chazy Landing.
