JAY — John Yaniro, born March 20, 1938, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ peacefully and surrounded by his loving family on Friday, Jan. 10. 2014.
Before moving to Jay, N.Y. in 1994, John lived most of his life in Burlington, N.J.
John is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his sons, Michael and his fianc^ Albeliza Perez of New York City, Matthew of Jay; his daughter, Katie Tran and her husband Eric Tran of Phoenixville, Pa.; and his sister, Liberta Villari and her husband William Villari. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins. John is also survived by his devoted companion, his Jack Russell Terrier, Joey.
John was predeceased by his mother, Katherine Tondi; his father, James Yaniro; and his beloved Carmine and Dominic Peruzzi, who lovingly cared for him during his younger years. He was also predeceased by his precious grandson, Eric Jason (EJ) Tran Jr.
He was employed as a Technician for Public Service Electric and Gas in Trenton, N.J. for 36 years, retiring in 1993. During his early employment with PSEG, John also proudly served in the New Jersey Army National Guard.
He enjoyed many hobbies including sculpting, carving, and boating, but his real passion was airplanes. In his earlier years, he had his pilots license and flew whenever he had the chance. His love of flying led him to developing an avid interest in radio controlled model airplanes. He was an active member of the Plattsburgh Radio Aero Modelers (PRAM) in Plattsburgh, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of his dear friends. John was an active member of Westport Bible Church where he enjoyed serving the Lord in ministry by lending his talents to various church projects. He also served on the Church Board for several years.
Arrangements are being made through Thwaits-Zaumetzer Funeral Home in Au sable Forks, NY. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held on Jan. 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Westport Bible Church, Youngs Road, Westport, N.Y. 12993.
