MOOERS — Mr. Harold P. LaBarge, 84, of Route 11, Mooers, passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at his home with family by his side and under the care of Hospice of the North Country. He was born Jan. 20, 1929, in Winooski, Vt., the son of the late Leo and Lyonette (Hebert) LaBarge. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army, Tank Co., 8th Infantry Regiment.
Harold married Rellia S. Corron on June 12, 1954, at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. He was predeceased by his wife and his parents. He worked for Sheraton Iron Works-Harris Bindery Systems and later for the General Services Administration at the Port of Champlain Customs, retiring in the mid 1990s.
Harold was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Mooers, a founding member of the Mooers Fire Dept., a Boy Scout Leader, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign War. Harold enjoyed fishing, woodworking and spending quality time with his family.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Laura LaBarge of Lisbon, Steven and Loanne LaBarge of Mooers, and Spencer and Lisa LaBarge of Swanton, Vt.; his sisters, Rita Cody of Mooers Forks and Connie Schnob of Plattsburgh; four grandchildren, Michael, Heather, Owen and Kayla; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday Jan. 9, at Brown Funeral Home, Altona. Members of Knights of Columbus Council # 6136 are asked to meet at the funeral home for a service at 6:45 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at St. Joseph's Church in Mooers. Burial will be at the parish cemetery later in the year.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Country, Mooers Fire Dept. or Boy Scouts of America.
