PLATTSBURGH — Mary Akey, 74, of Shirley Avenue, Plattsburgh, N.Y., died on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born in Plattsburgh on Oct. 6, 1939, the daughter of Wilfred and Elizabeth (LaBounty) Boudrieau.
Mary worked at the Adirondack Dining Hall on the Plattsburgh Air Force Base for many years until its closing. She then worked in food service at the CVPH Medical Center. She loved to play bingo and especially playing poker with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Blake and her companion Susan Warren and Barbara Roark and her husband Mark, all of Plattsburgh; one brother, Sherman Boudrieau; four sisters, Helen Besaw, Beatrice Martineau, Florence Duell, and Agnes Stranahan; five grandchildren, David "Buddy" Blake Jr., Jessica Martino, Joshua Blake, Bethany "Boo" Roark, and Tyler Warren; three great-grandchildren, Kaylee Blake, Ayden and Mia Arreola; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Wayne Akey on Nov. 8, 2013; and six siblings, George, Ralph, Robert, Henry, Rose, and Theresa.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court St., Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
