PLATTSBURGH — Mary McCullough Thomas, 91, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at CVPH Medical Center. She was born in East Hartford, Conn., the daughter of Arthur and Sylvia McCullough.
Mary graduated from St. Peter's School, Burr Junior High School and Buckley High School in Hartford. She married Charles A. Thomas on March 6, 1943, at St. Peter's Church in Hartford. After moving to Plattsburgh, She was involved with many organizations: St. John's Altar Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters Court of Mary Immaculate #479, Insurance Women's Group and Champlain Power Squadron. Her hobbies included boating, gardening and travel.
Survivors include three daughters, Laura Thomas Guss of New York City, Rosemary Thomas of Schuyler Lake, and Marie Thomas Harrington of Leicester, Mass.; grandson, John G. Guss; granddaughter, Katharine Harrington; sister-in-law, Mrs. Betty McCullough of San Diego, Calif.; four nieces and two nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Charles Thomas; two sisters, Mildred Peck and Marion Lawler; two brothers, Fredrick McCullough and Arthur James McCullough Jr.; and a niece, Susan M. Remick.
Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m Saturday, Jan. 11, at St. John's Church, Plattsburgh. Burial will be at a later date at St. Peter's Cemetery, Plattsburgh.
Memorial donations may be made in Mary's memory to Seton Catholic Central or Cliff Haven Scholarship Fund.
