WEST CHAZY — Albert T. Dean, 87, of Route 22, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, surrounded by his loving family in the home he built. He was born in Chestertown, N.Y., on August 24, 1926, the son of Antonio and Mina (Blaney) Dean. Albert married the former Gertrude Dumas on June 14, 1947.
He served in the United States Marines during World War II in the Pacific Theater, and was a member of American Legion Post 20.
Albert was employed as a patternmaker at Sheridan Iron Works and Platco and owned and operated Dean's Poultry Farm with his wife. He was an arborist, carpenter, gardener, and winemaker. He also enjoyed making maple syrup with his son-in-law, Barry.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Gertrude Dean; daughter, Melody Dimick and her husband Barry; daughter, Mary Ellen Dean; beloved grandson, Barry Albert Dimick and his wife Krista; brother, Victor Dean and his wife Ida; cousins, and nieces and nephews. Two sisters and his Uncle Pearley and Aunt Louise Blaney, predeceased Albert.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice Care of the North Country or the West Chazy Volunteer Fire Department.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh, New York.
