William Thomas "Tom" Rowe

CHAMPLAIN — William Thomas "Tom" Rowe, 50, of Watervliet, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014. He was born June 22, 1963, in Plattsburgh, to John and the late Geraldine Rowe of Champlain.

Tom graduated from NCCS in 1982. He received an associate's degree in civil engineering from Canton College in Canton and an associate's degree in surveying from Paul Smith's College, located in Adirondack State Park, Brighton. At the time of his passing, Tom was employed by Maser Consulting, headquartered in Red Bank, N.J., as a survey party chief.

The ultimate fearless daredevil, Tom enjoyed downhill skiing, windsurfing, skateboarding, bike-riding, bungee jumping,

ice fishing - the list goes on. He mastered each sport he tackled to near perfection, and loved to share his adventures through photos and stories with a glint in his eyes.

Tom also enjoyed the outdoors, and could tell you the name of every tree in the woods and every bird in the sky. He also took great pride in the koi pond that he built at his parents' home. Not only was he the master turkey carver at every holiday dinner - he topped off each event with a pyrotechnic display. A talented craftsman and photographer, Tom took on every hobby with zeal. Those who knew him were the recipients of his gentle and generous friendship.

Tom is predeceased by his mother, Geraldine Sassi Rowe; and both maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his father, John Littlefield Rowe; brothers, Terrence Rowe and companion Karla Myers of Champlain, Scott Rowe and spouse Kim of Penfield; sisters, Lisa and spouse Rob Casey, Heather and spouse Joseph Casey of Rouses Point, Courtney Rowe of New York City; nine nieces and nephews; six great- nieces and nephews; and another on the way.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point, with Rev. Clyde A. Lewis, Pastor, celebrating the Mass. A reception will immediately follow the Mass at the Rouses Point American Legion on Pratt Street, Rouses Point, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in his honor to Champlain Fire Department. To light a candle by sharing a thought, memory, or condolence, please visit the obituary online at
