KEESEVILLE — Stevan L. Giddings, 64, of Hill Street, Keeseville, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country. Steve and his wife moved here in Jan. from their residence on Prospect Street in Adams, N.Y., to be closer to their daughter, Kim and family.
He was born in Watertown, Dec. 23, 1949, the son of the late Lloyd Elmer and Lily Valjean (Joslyn) Giddings. He grew up in Ellisburg, N.Y., and graduated from Belleville High School. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for 4 years prior to his honorable discharge in 1971.
Steve worked for Niagra Mohawk in Watertown as a lineman for many years prior to retiring in 1999. He also worked for a short time as a police officer for the Adams Police Department.
He was an avid golfer and a former member of Tomacys Golf Club in Adams, N.Y.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Glenda (Skipper) Giddings, whom he married Feb. 17, 1971, in Orlando, Fla.; children, Kimberly L. Clowney and husband Mike, Adam L. Giddings, Tia B. Godfrey, and Jennifer C. Sovine and her husband Matt; grandchildren, Valerie J. Parker and companion Jacob Cummings, Cassandra S. Ramey, Christopher S. Kelly, Autumn Bell, and Anthony John; great-grandchildren, Myles Aiden and Marlee Ava Cummings; and siblings, David L. Giddings and wife Susan, Patric D. Giddings, and Sherry Brown and husband Paul; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, 7883 Route 289, Belleville, NY, 13611. Burial will be in the spring in Ellisburg Cemetery in Ellisburg, N.Y.
