PLATTSBURGH -- — Mr. Gerard A. Duprey, 81, formerly of Chazy, N.Y. and most recently of Peryer Drive, Plattsburgh passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 at the CVPH Medical Center.
He was born in Chazy, N.Y. on Feb. 18, 1932, the son of Reginald ad Helen (Ginett) Duprey.
Gerard graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in 1950. He entered the U. S. Army and spent 2 ^ years with the occupation forces in Japan during the Korean War. He was discharged at the rank of Sergeant. Gerard worked 30 years at local NAPA jobbers and 12 years at Riley Ford in Chazy, retiring in 1997. He was a former member of the West Chazy Volunteer Fire Department and transferred to the Chazy Volunteer Fire Department where he was a member for 47 years. Gerard was a member the New York State Fire Chiefs Association, the American Legion Post 769 in Chazy and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1418 of Champlain.
He was predeceased by his parents; a son, David Duprey; and a brother, Elwyn "Joe" Duprey.
Gerard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Geraldine "Gerry" Duprey of Plattsburgh; a daughter, Kimberly Duprey of Rouses Point; a grandson, Corey of Peabody, Mass.; a brother, Frances "Roger" of Springhills, Fla.; three sisters, Joyce Testa and her husband Sal of Hamden, Conn., Susan Turon and her husband Anthony of North Syracuse, Carol Hamiliton of Ottawa, Ontario; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Sacred Heart Church, Chazy.
Interment will be at a later date at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chazy Volunteer Fire Department, American Legion Post 769, Chazy or VFW Post 1418, Champlain.
