PLATTSBURGH — Kenneth J. Duquette, 73, of Heritage Drive, Plattsburgh, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Fla. with his family by his side.
He was born in Plattsburgh on Feb. 23, 1940, the son of Herbert and Mary (Guyette) Duquette.
He was a truck driver for Coca-Cola before becoming co-owner of Duquette Brothers Construction in Plattsburgh. Ken was a member of St. Alexander's Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 6067, the Carpenters Local 1053 and a Volunteer Fireman with Morrisonville Fire Dept. He enjoyed CB Radio, hunting, fishing, racing and Sunday outings with his family. Ken in his younger years played guitar in the band the Thunderbolts.
Ken was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Ralph Duquette.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean (Gokey) Duquette; their children, Daniel Duquette and his wife Tammy of Plattsburgh, Tammy Menard and her husband Darryl of Morrisonville and Jody Carpenter and her husband Scott of Morrisonville; six grandchildren, Cory and Sarah Duquette, Courtney and Lauryn Menard, and Ashley and Mackenzie Carpenter; his brothers, Donald (Rose) Duquette of Morrisonville, Gerald (Donna) Duquette of Plattsburgh and Robert (Phyllis) Duquette of Plattsburgh; several nieces and nephews also survive him.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014 at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville, burial will be later in the year in the parish cemetery.
Donations in Ken's memory may be made to the Foundation of CVPH Medical Center.
