PLATTSBURGH — Catherine Marie Tyler, 72, of Wood Manor Drive, Plattsburgh, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Altona, Sept. 5, 1941, the daughter of the late Francis and Stella (LaBarge) Lashway. Following high school she attended, and graduated from Schenectady Barber & Beauty Academy. She owned and operated Catherine's Beauty Salon from her home in Peru for many years and later worked at Valehaven Home for Adults in Peru for many years. Most recently she served as a unit clerk at CVPH for 22 years prior to retiring.
When Catherine's children were young she was a Cub Scout leader. She enjoyed league bowling with her friends and co-workers, for many years. Her true love however was spending time with her family and friends, especially at cookouts.
Survivors include her children, James Tyler of Plattsburgh, John Tyler of Peru, Susan Tyler and companion Larry Gonyea of Schuyler Falls, Timothy Tyler and wife Becky of Plattsburgh, Debra Tyler and companion John Ford of Plattsburgh; eight grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Jason, Lindsay and husband Brian, Timmy and companion Tiffany, Lauren and companion John, Kyle, Makenna, Madison, and Scott and companion Lynne; seven great-grandchildren whom were a very, very special part of her life, Cooper, Owen, Titan, Jayden, Kazlin, Wyatt, and Willow; sister, Marie (Lashway) Boulrice and husband Vernon of Altona; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Francis E. Lashway; and grandson, Justin.
At Catherine's request there will be no public calling hours or services. Burial will be in the spring in the Holy Angels Cemetery in Altona.
Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
