Kenneth J. Ormsby

TUPPER LAKE — Kenneth J. Ormsby Sr., 80, formerly of Leboeuf Street, Tupper Lake, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at the Clinton County Nursing Home in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Peasleeville, Sept. 2, 1933, the son of Floyd and Marion (Snay) Ormsby.

For many years Kenneth owned and operated Kenneth Ormsby Trucking and Ormsby Haulers Inc., both of Tupper Lake.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #847 Mt. Arab in Tupper Lake.

Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was always happy to help out a fellow trucker in need.

Survivors include his children, Kenneth Ormsby Jr. of Fla., Peggy Ormsby Tipton and her husband Donald of Anchorage, Alaska, Vincent Ormsby of Tupper Lake, David Ormsby of Tupper Lake, Laurie Ormsby of Tupper Lake, and Daniel Ormsby; grandchildren, Steven Ormsby, Travis Ormsby, Michelle Ormsby, Mickie Ormsby, Jeffrey Ormsby and Samantha Ormsby; great-grandchildren, Hayden Ormsby, Steven Ormsby, Hazel Ormsby, Logan Phillips Gravlin, and Hannah Tyo; brothers, Raymond Ormsby and wife Gladys of Morrisonville, Jerry Ormsby and wife Linda of Deland, Fla., and Roger Ormsby; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Elizabeth "Peg" Ormsby; brother, Warren Ormsby; and daughter-in-law, Sherry Ormsby.

Calling hours will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A prayer service will follow at 4 p.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel. A reception will follow at the West Plattsburgh American Legion.

Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country or the Woodsmen's Association of Tupper Lake.
