PLATTSBURGH - Mr. James Michael Gray, 59, of Algonquin Park Road, Cumberland Head, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Freeport, Long Island, N.Y. on April 18, 1954, the son of Tyler and Marian (McCurry) Gray.
James resided in Latham, N.Y. as an architect retiring in 2009 from New York State. He then became Fire Commissioner for the Cumberland Head Fire Department and joined Fessette Realty as an agent. Fondly referred to "Big Jim" by his family, he enjoyed fishing and spending time on Lake Champlain in his boat.
Jim was predeceased by his parents; and a great nephew, Matthew Tyler Brault in 1991.
He is survived by his siblings, Tyler C. Gray and his wife Lesley of Andes, N.Y., Ellen Fleming and her husband Thomas of Cumberland Head, M. Susan Morrison and her husband Rev. John Morrison III, of Brightwaters, Long Island, Nancy Fischer and her husband Jay of Watertown, Conn. and summer residents of Cumberland Head; his former wife Marlene Gray of Latham; many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St., Plattsburgh, New York. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with his brother-in-law, Rev.
