TICONDEROGA - Frances K. Brannock Newhall, 90, of Ticonderoga, passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born Sept. 6, 1923, in Hague, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Nellie (Maloney) May.
She was a lifelong Hague and Ticonderoga resident, and a graduate of Hague Central School and Plattsburgh State College.
Frances was an elementary school teacher, having taught in the Bolton Landing, Hague and Ticonderoga School Districts for many years.
Mrs. Newhall was kind and pleasant to everyone, and everyone she met would become her friend. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile. She was an avid New York Mets fan and bowler. She spent many enjoyable years bowling in the Wednesday night league. She was a charter member of the Ticonderoga Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Frances' greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Newhall was predeceased by her husbands, Kenneth C. Brannock and Winthrop Newhall; three brothers, Harry May, Bill May, and George May; and three sisters, Bessie Smith, Lulu Corlew, and Laura May.
Survivors include her three children, Keith W. Brannock and his wife Nancy of Ticonderoga, Diane Marie Grunewald and her husband Fred of Jackson Heights, and Terry Brannock and his wife Shari of Ticonderoga; three grandchildren, Terry Brannock II, Seth Brannock and his wife Jamie, and Lori Mosher and her husband Randy. She is also survived by three stepsons, Mike Newhall, Tom Newhall, and Jamie Newhall; and a very special stepdaughter, Peggy Newhall Walraven.
Relatives and friends may call from 10 to 12 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga. A private burial will follow.
