BEEKMANTOWN — Hugh E. Gordon, 72, of the Nichols Road, died Wednesday, June 26, 2013, surrounded by his family at his home.
He was born in Glens Falls on Nov. 27, 1940, the son of Theodore and Marjorie (Laird) Gordon.
Hugh attended Henderson Central School. He was an Army Veteran and retired from the Army Reserve. Hugh was employed by Delaware and Hudson Railroad in Rouses Point and later as a Correction Officer at Clinton Correction Facility.
He married Ella Jane Moore in Peru on Sept. 29, 1979 by Judge Roger Dashnaw.
Survivors include his wife Ella Jane Gordon of Beekmantown; his sons and daughters-in-law, Duane Gordon of Plattsburgh, Hugh A. Gordon of West Chazy, Edward and Patti Moore of Watertown, Clyde and Laurie Moore Jr. of Glens Falls, Richard Moore, and Peter Moore of Beekmantown, Timothy and Cherish Moore of Peru; his daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Stan Hall of Henderson, Lori and Kurt Hannon of Beekmantown, Gail and Shannon Carter of Beekmantown, Lisa and Vernon Moore of Belleville; 27 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; his sister Leata and Richard Blair; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Marjorie Gordon; a brother, Lee Gordon; sister and brother-in-law Donna and Bill Lasher; and daughter, Diann Gordon.
Calling hours will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, with a Masonic Service 1 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court St., Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel. After the funeral, a reception will be held at the American Legion Post #20 on the Quarry Road.
Donations in his memory, may be made the Beekmantown Fire Department and Ambulance services. Arrangements are in care of the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court St., Plattsburgh.
