---- — CROWN POINT — Kathleen Ann (LaRock) Woods, 49, of Crown Point, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 24, 2013, at the Moses-Ludington Hospital of Ticonderoga.
Born in Ticonderoga, February 12, 1964, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. LaRock and Betty Jean (Grinnell) LaRock, who survives her, of Ticonderoga.
Kathy graduated from Ticonderoga High School in 1982 where she loved and excelled in sports, particularly soccer. She graduated from SUNY Cortland in 1987 with a degree in sociology. Shortly after graduation she spent a long remembered summer at Camp Pok-'O'-MacCready where she trained new counselors. Kathy has been employed as an assistant teacher at the Rainbow Nursery School since 2008. She felt much rewarded by her experiences in fostering the children through their early educational development and love of learning.
Kathy also worked as a Rehab Coordinator / MSC at Mountain Lake Services (formally known as Essex County ARC) for seventeen years; before she left her professional career to devote more time to her two young sons.
As a proud alumni of St. Mary's School, Kathy greatly loved her St. Mary's family. She devoted countless hours as a parent volunteer and school board member. She has also served as a catechist for the St. Mary's / Sacred Heart parishes.
Before she became a mother herself Kathy was a devoted aunt who seldom missed a little league game, modified or high school sporting event, dance recital or play. You could always count on Aunt Kathy to save premier seating for an important event.
Above all else in her too short life Kathy was a loving wife to her husband, Steve, and devoted mother to her beautiful sons, Thomas and Ryan. There is nothing she loved more than to spend time with her family, participating in their activities and watching their sporting and school events.
In keeping with Kathy's spirit of giving, her family chose to donate her eyes and corneas to the Lions Eye Bank.
She was pre-deceased by her father, Edward J. LaRock and also by her father-in-law, McKinley Woods Jr.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Steven E. Woods and her two beloved sons, Thomas Edward Woods and Ryan McKinley Woods of Crown Point; her mother, Betty Jean LaRock of Ticonderoga; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Woods of Crown Point; and her two sisters, Pamela J. Nolan and her husband, Edward of Ticonderoga and Ann M. Siebecker and her husband, Timothy of Clarks Summit, PA. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Kevin D. McEwan, Pastor, will officiate.
The Rite of Committal will take place at a later date at the family plot of the White Church Cemetery of Crown Point.
In lieu of flowers the donations will be accepted at Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union, to Steven E. Woods for benefit of Thomas and Ryan Woods; or the family also suggests donations to St. Mary's School
