WITHERBEE - John P. Lang, 60, of Witherbee, N.Y. passed away on Nov. 22, 2013 with his loving family by his side.
He was born to the late Eugene "Sonny" Lang and Elizabeth "Betty" Montbriand Gilbo, who resides at Horace Nye in Elizabethtown, N.Y. on May 26, 1953.
John graduated from Moriah Central in 1973. He then went to work for Basin Harbor Club, working seasonally in Florida as a bartender for 15 years. John then moved to Vergennes, Vt. to work at the Eagles Club. He enjoyed his work and his patrons.
John had a love for life and people. He spent time on the Lang farm in Crown Point. He enjoyed fine foods, wine and BMW cars. John was happiest at gatherings with family and friends.
Besides his mother, John is survived by his twin brother, Eugene Lang (Sandy) of Hinsdale, N.H.; brother, James Lang of Fla.; sister, Debra Lang Celotti (George) of Mineville, N.Y.; brother, Richard "Dick" Lang (Cathy) of Moriah, N.Y.; sister Sharon Lang Hanson of Witherbee, N.Y.; brother, Scott Gilbo of Witherbee, N.Y.; sister, Vicki Gilbo Sargent (Gary) of Moriah, N.Y.; and his step-brother, Joseph Gilbo (Penny) of Ben Salem, Pa. He is also survived by seven nephews and eight nieces, whom he loved dearly.
John is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Vincent and Elizabeth Montbriand of Ticonderoga, N.Y.; paternal grandparents, Earl and Lucy Lang of Crown Point, N.Y.; step-father, Joseph Oakley Gilbo of Port Henry, N.Y.; uncle, Russell Lang of Crown Point, N.Y.; uncle, McKinley Woods of Crown Point, N.Y.; and special nephew Corey Lang of Hinsdale, N.H.
Services will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29 at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry, N.Y.
Instead of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Moriah Ambulance Squad.
