ROUSES POINT — A husband and wife from Chazy were arrested following a domestic dispute, police said.
Cara J. Smith, 33, allegedly scratched and choked her husband, Christopher G. Smith, 40, Chazy-based State Police said.
Mr. Smith allegedly spit on his wife, police said.
The incident was reported to police at 4:05 a.m. July 18, according to a State Police blotter entry.
Mrs. Smith was arrested soon after the incident was reported and was charged with second-degree strangulation, a felony, and third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.
Mr. Smith was charged with second-degree harassment, a violation.
They were both arraigned in Champlain Town Court.
Mr. Smith was released on his own recognizance to appear in Village of Rouses Point Court on July 30.
Mrs. Smith was sent to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $500 cash or $1,000 bond to reappear in court at a later date.
